Emerging Device Deployment
Over the past decade, consumers have enjoyed a variety of independent devices to make calls, listen to music, manage contacts and diaries, take photographs, access high speed data, watch films, and play games. The recent influx of powerful mobile broadband technologies such as UMTS, LTE, and HSUPA combined with the advent of robust processing power in the handset via ARM10 and ARM11 processors, is bringing great opportunity for mobile network operators (MNOs) to launch new converged devices that transcend beyond personal communication devices and enter into the field of telematics, cameras, laptops, media players, automobiles, and mobile internet devices. For MNOs and Original Equipment Manufactures (OEMs) both subscriber and revenue growth are going to be found in this influx of mobility into the broader array of consumer devices.
The industry is transitioning away from the traditional purchasing process, and moving toward a device first, service second model. The breadth of features and functionality a device can offer is vastly outweighing the service components that back it. With hundreds of millions of these devices coming off the shelves annually by 2014, combined with transitions in purchase influencers, MNOs and OEMs are realizing that bottom-line revenue creation rests in how they deliver the innovative deployment strategies needed in best capturing converged device adopters. Customers expect that their new device will quickly deliver an array of applications seamlessly and without hassle after purchase. OEMs and MNOs must eliminate the risk of malfunctioning applications or problems in the account creation, and activation phases that could lead to a poor initial customer experience.
Foreseeing this shift in the mobile industry Synchronoss is proud to offer ConvergenceNow® Plus+, a platform that takes the successful Services-Oriented Architecture (SOA) of ConvergenceNow® and enhances it with emerging converged device support, back-end processing, and inventory management. It was identified in Telephia’s “Attitude and Customer Behavior Survey” that customer’s who leverage the eCommerce channel are more satisfied with their shopping experience than those who buy in any other channel. Consumers are forming high-levels of expectations of service and satisfaction from their eCommerce experience. Combining this with the significant growth (34% CAGR) being seen in the eCommerce channel, CSPs are realizing the benefits and challenges of the movement.
The benefits are improved margins, larger sales volumes, and the utilization of a consumer preferred channel. The challenge begins in creating an efficient solution that increases web visitors through effective deployment of the marketing mix, drives them seamlessly through the order process, and ultimately puts the device and/or service in the hands of a satisfied customer. Looking further, the system that handles back-end order processing and delivery through OSS and BSS systems needs to have high-levels of automation to quickly create an active revenue producing customer, while decreasing operational expenditures. In an environment where CSPs continue to compete on price level strategies, the ability of a CSP to stand out from the rest lies in the customer experience they deliver.
The Synchronoss ConvergenceNow® Platform is well equipped to deliver an enhanced eCommerce experience to meet and exceed all consumer expectations of satisfaction through the channel. Click here to learn more about the ConvergenceNow® Platform.

Delivering Seamless Bundles
Communication service providers (CSPs) are very quickly transitioning from offering individual siloed services such as basic voice, video, high speed access and wireless to integrating, marketing and selling complex combinations or bundles. These offerings, variously defined as Triple-Play or Quad-Play services can be summed up as an X-Play strategy. The economic driver behind the race to the X-Play are straight forward and explain the speed with which communications service providers are embracing convergence. Converged services not only increase Average Revenue per Customer (ARPU) but also decrease customer churn, allowing providers to realize significant increases in the overall lifetime value of a customer.
Although bundled offerings are proving to be a valuable marketing tool, the simple bundling of existing services is inherently limited. In order to achieve a true X-Play, CSPs must bridge their different OSS and BSS systems in a way that delivers true back-end integration. Those that can bridge their often fragmented billing and operational systems will be real winners of the X-Play race.
ConvergenceNow® was built to be the platform for effective and efficient deployment of genuine X-Play offerings. Click here to learn more about the ConvergenceNow® Platform.

Centralizing Service Interconnection
Traditional gateway solutions to address interconnection requirements have consistently fallen in cost efficiency and reliability. To implement these solutions, service providers must master highly complex data processing systems, manage diverse business rules, and continually meet changing technological standards and protocol variations. The manual nature of order flows has led to large labor forces and high error rates with low levels of efficiency. Putting gateway systems into production with regular monitoring and maintenance has come with tremendous cost to service providers, only for them to realize above-average rejection rates from trading partners. Rejections that significantly drive up the cost per service request and negatively affect revenue, customer provisioning, and ultimately, the bottom line.
Synchronoss has developed the InterconnectNow™ solution suite to address these issues, and provide the industry with a reliable, cost effective platform for interconnection services. Click here to learn more about the InterconnectNow™ solution suite.
