Digital photo libraries are filled with moments worth revisiting and sharing, but finding and sending the right memories should not require remembering exactly where they are stored or whether your friends and family use the same cloud service to share them.

With the introduction of Personal Cloud 26.9, Synchronoss is making it easier for users to discover, share, and interact with their photos and videos. The latest release introduces Shared Albums, a redesigned home screen, and the foundation for more natural, AI-powered search capabilities.

Share Albums Privately, Even if They Aren’t Personal Cloud Subscribers

With Shared Albums, Personal Cloud users can privately share a photo or video album with friends and family, including people who do not use Personal Cloud.

Users can select recipients using an email address or phone number. Recipients are required to authenticate themselves before accessing the shared content, helping ensure that only the intended individuals can view the album. Shared albums can be shared through a link, email, or browser.

Users can also choose whether recipients can collaborate on the album by uploading their own photos and videos. That makes Shared Albums more than a way to send photos; it provides a space for families and friends to contribute memories from the same event, trip, or occasion.

A Simpler Way to Find Content

Personal Cloud 26.9 also introduces a redesigned home screen, including a consolidated search and home search bar designed to make content discovery more intuitive.

Personal Cloud 26.9 turns the home screen into a more engaging launch point for everything users care about. Instead of making people navigate through separate areas or remember exactly where something was saved, the new experience brings discovery, rediscovery, and recent activity together in one dynamic, easy-to-browse view.

A prominent search bar provides an immediate path to the right content, while a series of personalized swimlanes helps users explore in the way that feels most natural to them: revisit meaningful moments in Memories, jump into People and Locations, discover relevant content through Spotlight and Filters, browse Device Folders, or pick up where they left off with Recently Backed Up.

The result is more than a simpler home screen. It is a living front door to Personal Cloud; designed to surface something worth seeing, make the next action obvious, and give users more reasons to return to their photos, videos, and other content.

Moving Toward More Natural, AI-Powered Search

Hybrid Search combines the reliability of traditional keyword search with AI-powered understanding to help users find relevant photos using natural-language queries.

Traditional keywords remain a fast foundation for searching and discovering content. Hybrid Search uses the context of a query, including details such as a person, place, date, or description, to help identify the most relevant images in a user’s library. For example, “fishing in June” will find all fishing related content and specifically in the month of June.

Hybrid Search enables users to search based on what they remember about a moment, rather than having to recall the exact words used to organize or tag their content.

Serge Verba, Vice President of Product Management, Cloud, explains, “People do not always remember the exact name of a file, album, or tag. They remember a moment: a beach trip, a birthday celebration, or photos from a particular place and time. Hybrid Search is designed to make those moments easier to find.”

Together, these updates reflect a broader evolution of Personal Cloud: making it easier to find, share, and engage with the memories that matter most. With Personal Cloud 26.9, users have more intuitive tools for discovering their content and new ways to bring friends and family into the experience. Shared Albums and the redesigned home screen are now available for Synchronoss Personal Cloud 26.9 and Capsyl, while Hybrid Search is now available for Capsyl and in development for Personal Cloud.
